Inlays/Onlays

Mason, OH, Dentist Serving Greater Cincinnati & Dayton, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana

Dental inlays and onlays are dental restorations that can be used to protect and strengthen teeth impacted by decay. These bonded restorations are stronger than dental fillings and are often better suited for treating decay on back teeth. Because they do not require a significant amount of tooth enamel be removed for placement, inlays and onlays may also be used as a more conservative alternative to dental crowns.

If you live in or around Mason, Ohio and would like to learn if inlays or onlays could benefit your smile, please contact Hardin Advanced Dentistry by calling (513) 234-5531 today to schedule your initial consultation.

Same Day Restorations

Inlays are placed in between the cusps on the top of teeth. Onlays extend between one or more of the cusps. Outside of placement, these restorations are essentially the same.

Hardin Advanced Dentistry is a metal free practice where only ceramic or porcelain inlays and onlays are offered. In many cases, these restorations can be created with CEREC technology, allowing for a full restoration of strength and function in a single office visit.

Advantages of Inlays and Onlays

Both inlays and onlays are shaped, sized, and colored to fit seamlessly into your smile, allowing them to protect the tooth without impacting the overall appearance of your smile. Because they are bonded directly to your tooth they will not come loose or fall out, making them vastly superior to metal fillings. In addition, these restorations can be placed without the removal of much enamel, allowing them to help protect the integrity of your natural tooth and, when placed by an experienced dentist, inlays and onlays can continue to provide strength and protection for a lifetime.
