Modern dental technology has brought new products onto the market that produce remarkable results. Cosmetic dentures make it possible to have a new set of teeth that look completely natural, fit beautifully, and avoid the “sunken” appearance common with older types of dentures.

Correctly-fitting dentures can make you look – and feel – years younger. Our modern approach to dentistry includes “cosmetic dentures,” that provide a higher level of facial support. This approach gives you a more youthful appearance by making the lips appear plumped, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and filling out lost facial volume. This creates a dramatic improvement and provides a more comfortable fit, giving you the confidence you want in speaking, eating, and smiling.

A Younger Look with cosmetic dentures

When teeth are lost due to trauma, decay, or gum disease, the bone in the jaw deteriorates and shrinks in volume. Cosmetic dentures work to support the soft tissues, muscles and nerves, and keep them functioning as they should. Traditional dentures can fit incorrectly, leaving you looking older, tired and sunken. For a more youthful, fresh appearance that looks completely natural, these dentures stand heads above the earlier types of fixtures.

Benefits of cosmetic dentures

These advanced dentures provide real world benefits beyond making your face appear younger, and are well worth the investment. You live with your dentures for many years, so why not make them as comfortable and functional as possible? The positive benefits of cosmetic dentures include:

  • Ability to eat any food you want
  • Provides support to your facial and jaw muscles, eliminating the “sunken” look
  • Helps your jawbone stay healthy, halting natural deterioration
  • Adds more comfort
  • Rests partially on facial muscle structure to stimulate jawbone
  • Promotes muscle function and facial support

cosmetic dentures: Modern Dental Technology for Better Results

Cosmetic dentures work to function with the face and jaw muscles, rather than being seated only on the gums. With these modern dentures, the jaw is relaxed and the muscles in the face are supported in a way that cannot be achieved with traditional dentures. To continue to stay strong, the bones must be stimulated – including the jawbone. When the teeth have been extracted, the stimulation ends and jawbone volume begins to decrease – leaving the face looking sunken and old. Cosmetic dentures have the advantage of continuing to stimulate the jaw area to ward off bone loss, while supporting the muscular structure of the face so it appears younger and more vital.

Cosmetic dentures FAQ's

What makes a denture cosmetic?

Besides a good fit with great stability, support, and retention, a denture is cosmetic if it doesn’t look like false teeth. Your lips should be supported by the denture, your teeth shouldn’t’ click while speaking, and you shouldn’t have a lisp when saying S sounds. Cosmetic dentures are also known as facelift dentures – your smile and your face will be improved. Pronounced wrinkles around your mouth will disappear. Finally, the teeth should look like real teeth and the gums should have some pigmentation, contours, and texture to them.

Will they look like real teeth?

Yes, we use top of the line teeth that look just like natural teeth. They are not a smooth, shapeless piece of plastic that looks like it came out of a mold. They have texture, natural shapes, contours, and translucency. The gums will also not be homogenously pink and shiny. They will have some pigmentation, contours, and texture to them so everything looks very natural.

Will I need to use adhesive to keep them in?

Upper dentures have the added benefit of creating suction through negative pressure with your palate. Very rarely will you need any adhesive if they are well fitting. The lower dentures are always trickier because we don’t get the suction effect. Dental implants are a great solution on the bottom to help retain the denture and keep it in place. Our patients who have gone this route say it was the best money they ever spent!
