TMJ, or “Temporomandibular Joint Disorder” is a condition in which the joint connecting the jaw to the skull is not functioning correctly. This syndrome can cause many problems, including pain at the joint, a jaw that locks, clicks and pops, earaches or ear pain, headaches or popping sounds in the ears.

TMJ is associated with the interactions of facial muscles, joints and the ligaments that move the jaw. Treatment for this condition may include creating a custom orthotic that relieves pressure on the joint while repositioning the bite.
