How can we help you?*

Locating hidden decay before it destroys tooth structure from the inside out is a major goal for our dental practice. If we can find and stop subsurface tooth decay before it spreads, we can help you avoid tooth damage and loss.

If you are concerned about tooth decay, please call Hardin Advanced Dentistry at (513) 216-2935 today to schedule an appointment.

What Is the DIAGNOdent?

The widespread use of fluoride supplements in toothpastes and drinking water has made tooth surfaces harder and more resistant to decay. Diagnosing cavities beneath the hard surfaces is more challenging because the disease (decay) process can start through microscopic defects in the hard surface enamel and quickly spread into the softer tooth structure beneath the surface.

X-rays and probing with an explorer (dental instrument) have only limited success in detecting subsurface decay, especially when the cavity is in its early stages. The DIAGNOdent (laser) is a major breakthrough that allows Dr. Tara Hardin to monitor the areas below the hard surfaces. The DIAGNOdent enables us to locate hidden decay and start treatment to stop the spread of disease before it destroys the tooth from within.

Benefits of DIAGNOdent

The DIAGNOdent is patient friendly, and can be used on children and adults. This unique instrument provides instant feedback on the health of the tooth. A pen-like probe glides over tooth surfaces, checking the health of the tooth. A number and alarm signals Dr. Hardin when there are signs of hidden decay. This new technology is completely safe and comfortable, and can go a long way towards preventing tooth decay and loss.

To find out more about DIAGNOdent, please contact the experienced Cincinnati general dentists at Hardin Advanced Dentistry online or call (513) 216-2935 today. Our office is in Mason, Ohio, and we serve patients from Cincinnati and Dayton as well as Southeast Indiana and Northern Kentucky, too.
