Advanced Dentistry in Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana

One of the major responsibilities any family dentist has with adolescent patients is monitoring how their adult teeth are coming in, correcting alignment problems, gaps or bite issues. Evenly-spaced and properly aligned teeth are easier to care for and bring real health benefits. They also create an attractive, appealing smile.

When minor to moderate orthodontic issues exist, Hardin Advanced Dentistry has two different ways to address them: Invisalign® and Six Month Smiles. To determine which system will work best for your individual dental issues, schedule a consultation to receive braces in Cincinnati, Ohio. Our office number is (513) 398-4448.

A Brilliant, Even Smile Brings Confidence
and Self-Esteem

Your smile is an important feature, and a wide, brilliant smile with evenly-spaced teeth always creates a good impression. Many people have alignment issues that detract from their natural beauty, but modern orthodontic treatments can solve these issues quickly, and without having visible metal braces. When your teeth are perfectly aligned, you experience better oral health, as aligned, correctly-spaced teeth are easier to brush and floss. At Hardin Advanced Dentistry, we take great pleasure in helping our patients achieve a perfect smile. The increase in self-confidence they feel in their appearance is significant. Are you ready to transform your smile? We are here to help.

Clear Braces

Since being introduced in 1997, Invisalign® has become one of the most popular alternatives to traditional orthodontic devices. Rather than suffering through the experience of wearing painful, visible, and hard-to-keep-clean braces, the system involves wearing invisible aligners, changed out at intervals, that slowly shift your teeth into the correct, perfectly aligned position. We are proud to offer Invisalign® braces at Cincinnati's Hardin Advanced Dentistry.

Benefits of Invisalign®:

  • Fixes moderate alignment and spacing issues
  • Trays are custom-shaped to fit your teeth
  • No need for tightening appointments
  • No eating restrictions – quickly removed to eat and drink
  • Almost invisible when worn
  • Can be removed for special occasions
  • Easy to clean

When you decide to get Invisalign® at Hardin Advanced Dentistry, our cosmetic dentist keeps a close eye on how your smile is progressing. Use your Invisalign® trays as directed, and you will have a perfect smile with perfectly aligned teeth that function as they are supposed to.

No More Metal:
Invisalign® and Six Month Smile

Metal braces work – they move teeth into place. They are also difficult to clean, unsightly, and limit the types of food you can eat. With Invisalign®, these problems are completely solved. You can eat anything, as the aligners are removed at meals and when drinking any beverage other than water. You simply pop them out, brush your teeth and the aligner when finished, and then replace it. They are worn for 22 hours per day, with two hours for eating, drinking and brushing your teeth. The aligner can also be removed for special occasions when necessary. Each one has been custom-manufactured to slowly shift your teeth into place, and the cost is often comparable to metal braces – why not go invisible?

Six Month Smile braces are far less visible, as they are created out of clear brackets and tooth-colored wires that are only slightly visible. Our clear Cincinnati braces are perfect for minor misalignments and gaps. You may be a candidate for this treatment. Call us at (513) 398-4448 to schedule a consultation to evaluate your teeth and oral health. Find out if the Six Month Smile treatment is the solution that can help you achieve perfectly aligned teeth – and a movie star smile.

Six Month Smiles

For a fast and effective way to beautify your smile, you might consider Six Month Smiles, which straightens your front teeth with clear brackets and titanium wires. We see many patients whose back teeth are healthy and well-aligned, but who also have some spacing issues limited to the front teeth, affecting their confidence. This orthodontic solution allows them to fix those issues without spending a year or more wearing braces.

Benefits of Six Month Smiles:

  • Corrects orthodontic issues for visible teeth
  • Comfortable, with only light pressure on teeth
  • Brackets and wires colored to blend with teeth
  • Average treatment time of six months
  • Costs less than traditional Cincinnati braces

Whether your teeth are too crowded, widely spaced, rotated or slightly misaligned in front, Six Month Smiles allows you to correct the issue in a much shorter time. A consultation with our cosmetic dentists at Hardin Advanced Dentistry helps you decide whether this is the right solution for you.

Am I too Old for Orthodontic Treatment?

While many people get braces as teenagers, not everyone is fortunate enough to undergo teeth straightening in their youth. Many adults pursue braces as a means of enhancing their self-image and self-confidence, improving their bite, and correcting cosmetic issues that may have been frustrating them for years. The truth is, there is simply no age limit when it comes to orthodontics. Advances in oral science have made treatment more comfortable and rapid than ever before, so adults can pursue straighter teeth while continuing to function socially and professionally. Options such as Invisalign were not available until recently, which may help older individuals to feel that they have “perfect timing” when it comes to getting braces at a later age.

Orthodontics FAQ's

Is it too late to straighten my teeth?

It is never too late to straighten your teeth!

Does Invisalign affect my speech?

It could slightly affect some of your S sounds. You will get used to it in just a few days and adapt quickly. Some are completely unaffected. The aligners are so thin that the difference is negligible.

How long does the treatment take?

Most of our patients complete treatment in about 6 months, but some cases are much quicker (3 months) and others are longer (over a year). If you aren’t satisfied, then neither are we. We will order additional aligners to fine tune your movement to perfection.

Is there a way to speed up the treatment time?

Yes! We can often cut treatment time in half with the AcceleDent. The AcceleDent is a vibrating device that transmits impulses through your tooth roots which allows the teeth to move faster. An added bonus is the reduction in discomfort throughout treatment. Ask us more during your consultation!

How often do I wear my aligner trays?

You will wear each set of aligners for two weeks. The recommended time is 22 hours a day, taking them out only to eat. The more compliant, the better treatment result you will have.

Why do dentists recommend Invisalign before undergoing cosmetic treatment?

In today’s dentistry, both dentists and patients want as little tooth structure removed as possible. Moving teeth into ideal positions allows us to conserve much more tooth structure and sometimes limit the amount of teeth we have to prepare. This is minimally invasive dentistry at its finest. Additionally, moving teeth will give you room in the front of your mouth for functioning with no interferences. This minimizes the risk of your new restorations from breaking or chipping.

Can I do Invisalign with crowns or veneers?

It is always best to perform orthodontics before any restorative treatment. Although we can bond buttons onto veneers and crowns, they do have a greater risk of coming off at least once throughout treatment. If that happens, we can bond it back on.

Can I do Invisalign with dental implants?

Yes, but if you are thinking of getting a dental implant, you should delay until after completing orthodontics. If this isn’t an option, just know that your dental implant will not move with treatment.

What are buttons, aligners, and IPR?

Buttons are the anchors that get bonded on your teeth. Aligners are the clear trays that attach to the buttons so the teeth are able to move. At the end of treatment your buttons are removed. IPR stands for interproximal reduction. If your teeth are crowded, we will most likely have to perform IPR between them, a way to slenderize them so there’s space for movement. This is not noticeable to the naked eye as it’s only tenths of a millimeter! And no, it does not hurt.
